Celebration of the world day of Decent work- 7th of October
October 7
WORLD DAY FOR DECENT WORK
Today we marked the World Day of Decent Work with informal sharing of promotional material at the railway station.
International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) since 2008 marks 7 October as World Day for Decent Work. It is a day to mobilization around the world, the day when all trade unions in the world stand up for decent work.
This year the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Macedonia joins the International Trade Union Confederation by organizing action that will share promotional materials under the motto “Decent work for all”.
The goals that we want to encourage are advancing opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity and the promotion of rights at work, encouraging decent employment opportunities, improving social protection and strengthening social dialogue.
The work is the foundation of the welfare of the people. Decent work provides income that leads to economic and social progress, strengthening individuals, their families and the wider communities. It is a source of personal pride, family stability and community peace.
Decent work is a key element in efforts to reduce poverty and way to achieve equitable, inclusive and sustainable development of all countries in the world.
Achieving fair occasions is the first element that must be satisfied in order to achieve decent work. For a number of employees in the Macedonian economy this condition is not met.
We also believe that the most important aspirations of all men and women are: fair income, security in the workplace and social protection for themselves and their families, better prospects for development and social integration, freedom for people to express their problems, organize collectively and participate in the decisions that affect their lives and equality of opportunity and treatment for all women and men.
We would like to express gratitude for the support of this event from the “Promotion of social dialogue” Project financed by the European Union, implemented by the International labor organization.
